Jazzcrazy is proud to profile Naomi White
After starting classical flute at age 9 and later studying jazz tenor sax at the Leeds College of Music, NaomiI moved to Scandinavia in 1999, where there was a thriving popular music scene, and joined a top quality international dance band which took her around the world. It was here that she started seriously to sing. This was the setting for developing musical and entertainment skills in a difficult and competitive arena. She gained a growing reputation in this circle for her singing and instrumental skills on saxes and flute. In 2003 she left the band, although she still guests with them. Now she has diversified mainly into duos, one with brilliant US guitarist Kenneth Alan, which has excited audiences from the Copenhagen pub and jazz scenes to the up-market venues of St Moritz. Fairly new is with Italian pianist William Fanni with whom she had engagements in Lugano, Switzerland for the whole of May and in Sardinia for most of August 2006. Very new is with swinging New Yorker, also a pianist, Peggy McKenna. They are calling themselves "Swing Chic" and they are coming to England at the end of August.
