After achieving an A in A level music, and a distinction in her classical singing ABRSM grade 8 exam, Tessa moved to Leeds from picturesque Northumberland to study Jazz at Leeds College of Music. A twist of fate had seen her change applications from Classical music to Jazz at the College open day; a decision that has served her very well. Being relatively new to Jazz, Tessa spent her first couple of years at LCM trying to find her voice in the world of improvising, and experimenting with different ensembles. By her final year, and having listened to many inspiring musicians such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, and the incredible Kurt Elling, Tessa was quite clear on the path she wanted to take, and the music she wanted to present.
